House Sitting

I have the opportunity to house sit for a few weeks, today I am sick as no other and missed a day of work. Bleh. I don't like missing work, I feel as though I am letting my coworkers down. But I have had difficulty breathing deeply, have a fever, and a nasty cough. So being outside in the snow all day after staying up most of the night coughing, and potentially getting my coworkers sick...not a good idea. Nap now.

Now that I am working, and getting paid, I have found that I don't want to eat the candy bar that I can now afford, I only need a handful of chips to satisfy me, and I haven't thought about ice cream until just now. I haven't noticed if I have lost any weight, (the scale says from 144-154 daily) but I like being outside and have found that I am a happier person...mostly.

I woke up this morning and looked outside, and saw that is was "snowing" outside. It only lasted about ten minutes, but we had snow, I love snow.

Last night my cat, Nelly, caught her first mouse (first since we've gotten her) and like a good thoughtfull cat, she brought it up into my parents room, still alive. Earlier that day, my mom had gone downstairs to get something, and saw Nelly at the door that led to the no so nice part of the basement. Nelly looked up at her and started meowing away, so my mom opened the door and she was off like a shot. Since we couldn't close the door and trap her back there, my mom left the door open and continued on with her business. Which is why, she later carried a still living mouse upstairs to show us she is taking care of us.

Today she got another one, or the same one since the other cat scared her away from hewr first catch and proptly lost it...by then they were outside so it wasn't too bad. I love my cat.

Finals

The last month has been crazy, things have gone wrong every where and I am up to my neck in computer and car repairs, well one computer is completely dead, so I haven't been able to use it for my finals this last week. I still have a few finals to go but I have already gotten one over with, and my grades aren't that bad this semester.

I am soon to start applying for jobs, have to wait until I am no longer a student, but once school is over, here come the applications...as many as I can get in the small town I live in.

Kristie, that babysitting money you gave me saved me with the car repairs, it wasn't too painful of a drain on my savings.

Tanko Bushi Japanese Dance

On March 6th, my Japanese class and I, went to our local mall and performed the Tanko Bushi.
It is a Japanese Dance and we had lots of fun. I don't have a video of us dancing, only one that demonstrates the dance. So if you imagine a bunch of college students in kimonos dancing this on a stage, then you kinda know what we looked like.
I'll try to get some pics, will have to do some work with the digital camera though.

Not Much

Well, there isn't much to blog about today. The local Lion Dance is happening today, at the Chinese Temple. Might find some pictures from last year's dance.

Since it is the Chinese New Year, the local Chinese Temple, our Joss House, puts on a dance using Chinese lion puppets/costumes. It is really fun to watch, especially when the little kids in the dance are in their little lion costumes, so cute. The dancers are mainly from our local, and only, karate group. Some dance in the lion costumes, some hold the lanterns the lions follow, some play the drums, and some might do a sword dance, don't know if those that did still live here though. At least it will be sunny for them, it has been raining for the past week.

School Starts Again

Once again I have started another semester at college. I have gotten into three of the four classes I was going to take, so now I need to find an online class of some kind to fill in the needed units.

The weather was a bit of a worry, but so far this morning it was clear enough for us to get over, tonight on the other hand...wish us luck. I am carpooling with my friend, Meghan, my sister, Nancy, her boyfriend, Jori, and his friend, Nick. Nick has a class that keeps us at the college until 9:30 at night. Nancy has a class that requires us to get to the college before 8:00 a.m. We have an hour drive home. I am too nice. Lucky for me we only have to do this two days of the week.

I have been sick this past week, yucky sniffling, coughing, wheezing, thing. Throw in some dizziness and nausea, and you have a wonderful night before school starts. I finally felt well enough to fall asleep around 1:00 in the morning, Jacquie woke up at 4:20 and started walking around and talking loudly to whom ever was putting wood in the stove, and my alarm went off at 5:45.

At least I got into the two classes I was worried about. I had been wait listed for them and just made the class. Hopefully I will do well in my Japanese class that I am taking. Kristie sent me some books, but they have been lost in the immenseness that is the bookshelf.

So, once again, hopefully we will have good weather this evening, have a nice fast food dinner, make it over the hill and on to home, and sleep in tomorrow morning.

I went to see Avatar today, and it was earth shaking, literally. In the middle of the movie, our seats started shaking and everyone was looking around. My friend thought it was the surround sound, but that would be more of a vibration. Not a back and forth, side to side motion. The earthquake was a 6.5 off the coast. When I got home I asked my mom if it was an earthquake, and it was. Avatar rocks this world. ^_^

We have snow!!!! It is 9:00 in the morning and I am at my friend's house, and there is about 2 inches of snow on the ground, the roads have not been plowed and there is about 3 inches at my house. Sorry mu fingers are a little weird in the morning.

For the past week, it has been 12 degrees!!!!! At night, 14 when we wake up and today we have gotten a high of 33 degrees. A pipe in our kitchen froze last night, so nothing was going down the drain, and it was going all over the kitchen floor. But it defrosted by this afternoon.

Transiberian Orchestra Concert

I went to see the Transiberian Orchestra at the Arco Arena In Sacramento. It, was, AWESOME!!!!! The singers, the music, the hot guitar player.... They had pyrotechnics with flames shooting into the air and fire works! We had floor seats so we were really close, I was six seats away from the isle where the band members would go running by randomly. I had lots of fun and the band had lots of fun too. Oh and there was a snow machine so our section of the audience got snowed on. A kid in the front got a guitar signed by the whole band. It was cool.

Grandpa is staying with us right now...might kick Nancy out of her room, which means she will stay in the room will both me and Jacquie...which give us a great excuse to clean out the basement, seal up the floor and move down there.

I did a little experiment the other day, I got a gummy worm and put it in a bowl of cold water too see what would happen. A few hours later I got the results and it was cool.

JOB!!! happy dance

I have a job, through RUSH up here, at the road department. I wake up at 5:15 a.m. to be there before 6:30, and I get off at 5:00 p.m. Flagging, mowing along the road, and maintaining the trucks and equipment is what I have helped on. I have done some flagging in the heat, and in the chilly morning. I have helped change oil and filters, grease the joints, check the brakes...start the big dump truck. ^_^

Today unfortunately, my coveralls sleeve got snagged by the oil spigot and I ended up pumping oil down the sleeve, which I didn't notice until it spilled down my side. So my pants and shirts got covered in oil. I had to go home and change, wipe off so the oil didn't burn me, and get the cloths into the tub with dish soap, to try to get the oil out before it could ruin my cloths.

I also started learning how to drive a stick shift today. They had me practicing in one of their Ford F-350 diesel trucks...one without a plow on the front. ... AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I kinda don't like a stick shift. I did okay, but I just don't like it, maybe because the clutch was so hard to push in, I actually got it down pretty good, but I really don't like it when there are people behind me or around me. I want to be more used to driving a stick before trying around in town. I only was driving for 20-25 minutes.

But all that aside, I really like my job. Really.

Hello there, about an hour ago I got into my first car accident. I backed into a tree going somewhere around 5-10 miles an hour. The tire on the back shoved in the back door and busted out the rear window. No bumper damage and I am fine, except for being very mad at myself for doing something so stupid. My poor car, I called my mom and had a good cry but I am fine.

Movies

I went to the showing of Subject B-5 Friday night at the local coffee shop. It had a good story, the camera work was a little shaky (but hey this is a movie done in Trinity County, on practically no money) and the sound needed some work but I liked it. It was worth the late nights and cold we had to deal with, not to mention all the fake blood that was splattered all over us multiple times. Last night I went to see Star Trek and it was AWESOME!!! We are so getting it when it comes out on DVD. I personally haven't been able to see lots of Star Trek, but I know enough to get all the little hints here and there from the show.

I learned last night that there was a scene after the credits of X-Men Origins Wolverine, one that I missed. So I will just have to go back and see it again, oh pity me. ^_^ (I think I spelled something wrong again.)

So yeah, look at the trailer, there was a rumor that they were going to put the movie up on Youtube as well, but they are trying to sell DVDs of the movie as well. So I don't know.

May Flowers and Showers

Well, weeks ago when we were slaving away in the garden, it was hot and sunny, then as soon as we start getting stuff planted and growing, it drops to 34 degrees and RAINS for most of the week. Oh well, I like the rain.

I had gone to see the midnight showing of X-Men Origins Wolverine, where i saw Nancy's boyfriend dressed as Logan, and another friend as Remy. I do not have a pic of Remy, he ran out of the theatre before I could get a pic.

We had some good flowers out on the trees, just a bit of random information, and an excuse to put more pictures up.

Kitten gave us another kill yesterday, a bird, this is her third one. The first the mouse, then a moth (she carried up to the door and left it for us so it counts) and now the bird, she is becoming such a good hunter, she even shared with Nelly.

I saw Monsters vs. Aliens, it was funny. Then I went and saw Fast and Furious. Oh My Gosh!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I had to see it twice! It was soo great!! Then I went and rented the first two movies, Tokyo Drift doesn't count as one of the movies, it is like #2.5 and not #3, so this new one was the third.^_^ Brian is cool.

Week Off

Well, we have our week off, and not much is happening. The garden has been worked on and it needs to be tilled now, the boxes made and stuff planted. The burn piles will also be burned this weekend, and stuff. Basement still needs work, and we have baby chickens in the other bathroom.

Spelling hates me, oh well. Anyway, I finally found the camera, so I took pictures of the basement and what I need to do with it.

We had a bit of a scare these last few days, my littlest sister Jacquie, stepped on Kitten, Nancy's cat, on her neck. Then she stopped running around, playing, and bothering Nelly. Then she refused treats and TUNA!!! There was something officially wrong with her, we just didn't know what. For the past two days, Kitten has been laying around sleeping, not eating or getting any water, she cries out when ever someone picks her up, and she doesn't want to go outside. (Nancy, mom left the door open when she went to the garden and Kitten has wanted to go out ever since, and I have let her BUT ONLY when I am out there as well.) But just now she has eaten some food and JUMPED up onto a pile of laundry, I think she'll be fine. Though I might miss having her sleep with me, she has been doing that and I have found that I don't mind it...as long as she isn't sleeping ON me.

Some flowers are starting to bloom around here so I have that, it has been in the low 70's for the past couple of days, really nice, we got a little bit of rain last night but it is still warm.

Rain again

This last weekend, my friends and I were planning on going down to Meghan's house and help around the place. Her mother was at a Quilt Show, and Meghan needed to watch the dog anyway, so we planned on keeping her company. We left Friday night, after another friend's wedding. The wedding was nice, small, but fun. And I have pictures of Meghan looking pretty, unfortunatly, not digital ones. Anyway, we went down, it was dark, a little cold and wet, got the fire going (me the pyro) scared a bear, it scared me, fun stuff like that.

The next morning we gathered up some gardening tools and started working on the fruit trees in the back yard. They had little sucker trees growing and we had to get rid of them, Meghan and Susan mainly worked on the cutting and hauling of the sucker limbs, while I focused on one apple tree, then the blackberry bushes. We worked 4 hours straight on those trees, I got two prickly tumble weeds of blackberry bushes as big as me cut out. (Tumble weeds because I rolled the piles of cut vines with a rake into the burn pile) Only an hour after we took a break it started raining. And it didn't stop all weekend...I think it continued to Tuesday.

We all felt good about ourselves, getting it all cleaned up. We are planning on reviving the garden area too this year, and watering the trees so we get lots of good apples (Sue's apples are the BEST ever!! If you can get through the blackberry bushes to get to the tree ^_^) I even brought down a load of wood for her, she was almost out, so she should have wood for a week or two until someone gives her some. (They always do that) The rain kinda put a halt to our yard work for that weekend, and it looks like it is going to rain all this weekend too, but at least we got stuff done before it got bad, and, there is always the basement to clean out. *shudder*

Basement Start!

I started cleaning the basement today, with the help of my friend. We got bags and bags of old cloths ready to take to the Blue Barn. My car is full of trash to take to the dump, mom's car is starting to fill up with recycle stuff, and my dad is already complaining. (Of course) And in case he reads my blog, I will not say what I am getting rid of. Hopefully we will be able to get the basement cleaned out and fixed up soon, it will be nice.

We are getting snow, but right now there seems to be a spot of clear weather all around us, so everyone is getting snow, we are getting sprinkled with rain.

Hey, since Monday is a Holiday, I might start working on the basement again. (Yes Kristie, it is going to get cleaned, and all the...magazines...will be in their...rightful place.) ^_^

Perfect Timing

Well, as soon as Nancy left to go to L.A. it started snowing, and it hasn't stopped. We now have 8 inches and it is still snowing horse feathers. (large snowflakes) My lovely Trooper is unfortunatly in the shop at the moment, getting a leak repaired so I have no way to get way from the house, hopefully there are no emergencies that need a driver. My truck can take this weather dang it!!! And he's in the shop!!! *ahem*

Sorry. Yesterday, after it had been snowing for... 2 hours, my friend tried to get me home in her car, a low riding Firebird. She slipped her way up one hill, then almost slid off the second, we were stuck in both lanes crookedly, but I was able to push it to get it moving. She got up to the flat part, then decided to turn around and let me walk home. I agreed. The plow went by and she followed it down. By the time she got to the bottom, it was if the plow had never gone by. She spun out when she tried to turn up Main street, but was able to spin around again in the right direction and make it home. So now her car is buried under 8 inches of snow, and she is not stuck at our house for a week, like two years ago.

So Nancy, if you are reading this, you got out of her at the perfect time, I know you don't like snow.

Where is WINTER???

Hello, there. This is me coming from my sunny little hometown in Northern California. Where is has been a nice 60 degree average for the past 2 weeks, and 20 degrees at night.
We had ONE day of rain last week, ONE, and it didn't last that long or rain very much either.
There is almost no more snow on the mountains, the only reason there still is, is because it FREEZES every night, 20 degrees, and doesn't warm up much, so there is not much melting.
Where is the snow?
Was the 3 inches all we get this winter???
Where is the moisture? It is cold enough to snow but with nothing wet, we might have wild fires in winter, it is so dry.
I was actually able to go outside without a sweater a couple times, and it is January. Feels more like a dry March.

Well, my sister is getting ready to go live with my big sister down in L.A., which means I soon won't have to share a room with my little sister. I can get the bed out of Nancy's room, put it in the living room, change her room back into a sewing room and put the bed in the basement that I will change into my room...I wonder if i can get the dish cable to go down there. Oh I am so ready to be picking up my OWN messes (which are few and far between ^_^) instead of my little sister's which are a safety hazard. I almost stepped on a glass plate that she had left on the floor. With the light off it was impossible to see. I was lucky I just kicked it and hurt my toes, if I had stepped on it, I would be blogging you about my stay in the hospital.

Wow, what a rant...I feel a little better. Now all I have to do is get the measurements of the basement so I can draw up some design plans, stuff like that is just so fun. lol
Anyway...

My cat likes to go outside, not very far, just a few steps. A few days ago we had brought in wood and Nancy forgot to close the door, Nelly (my cat) went outside to sniff around and I closed the door, not knowing that she was out there.
A little later, I can hear her meowing but I didn't know where she was, finally Nancy's cat (Kitten) started acting really weird around her bedroom window (it looks out on the front deck.) Nancy opened the blinds and was just in time to see Nelly coming down from a leap at the window, one that she repeated until Nancy ran and opened the door. She ran inside and went strait for the basement, terrified. I felt so bad, I felt like the worst cat person ever. I spent the next half an hour consoling her and brushing her, trying to make her as happy as possible. I am really glad that she didn't run off, or get eaten or hurt by a wild animal.

Kristie gave us some books recently, one of them was a new Mercedes Lackey book, Foundation, it takes place as they are building the Heralds' Collegium so I had to visualize a completely different place for what was going on...it threw me off for a bit, but I loved it!! I LOVE all her books. ^_^

New Snow

Well, one more day after today and I will have no more school for this semester. Lots of stuff happened, well sorta, and I was able to sleep in today. Even though Jacquie woke me up around three with her blowing her nose like a fog horn in the living room.(she's sick) These pics are of the new snow that is at our house. Also the Christmas tree we got, more snow, and the cats...I love my cat, she's the black and white one. OMGOSH, it is only one week until Christmas!!!!!!!! This year has gone by sooo quickly, I don't know what to do with myself.

Oh my gosh, four projects in the next four days...and all of those in History. 1.5 things due in English which I love, Mr. Bailey is the bestest ever!!! Earth Science is really fun and soon to be over. Only one and a half weeks left of school!!! I can't wait until I am able to get 12 hours of sleep. I love sleep. And reading. And writing...I can get to writing my little stories now.

Good Grief

Well, here I am saying that I will now be able to update more often and what happens? Nothing. Geez. Well, I guess that all I can comment on are, the holidays coming up, yeay!! My car is still running even though I have traveled over 200 miles a week in it, and gas here is 1.75!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!! I no longer pay 50 dollars a week to gas up, only about 30. My sister is pregnant again and my younger sister is going to go to school down south and stay with her, and I just realized that that meant she will be around the Wii for a whole semester!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
Oh well, at least I will be able to work on getting my own room. (I have to share with my littlest sister, she is 12 and messy)But if I can get things to work, she will have the room to herself to clean (he he he he) and I will have the basement once again, and share with the mice...DECON!!!!
I am very excited for this coming Christmas, no one is coming over and I am getting only one present, but it is something I really really wanted for years. And I really don't need anything but I could use some money. (Duh) Well, until I get my present for Christmas, none of you will know, it has to be a surprise for someone right?

Halloween

Well, Halloween this year was a little wet, it sprinkled on us and we didn't get any candy. It was kinda boring actually since we really didn't plan anything ahead of time and by 8:30 all of us were tired. My costume was made from things I bought, borrowed, and my mom made (i was too lazy to get on her really nice, old machine and make the skirt)(i was worried i might break a needle)(i do every time)anyway, i got pictures of what i looked like for Halloween so Kristie can see. Oh and the cat is there too.

Hey there again, I am typing from a VERY fast connection at the local college library. I have to wake up at 5:30 in the mornings of Tuesday and Thursday, and stay here until 7:00 at NIGHT!! Very long days ahead. So far the classes seem good, I still haven't gotten to my English class yet, so we'll see.

Sorry, this is a long time in coming, but with all the smoke around from the fires it's been hard to connect to the internet. So now i have some pics and info about what's going on. We have NO summer! With all the smoke it is an amazing site to see beautiful blue sky, maybe once a month, if we are lucky we get a couple of days of it before the smoke sweeps back in. All the smoke is coming from some fires that have been burning since JUNE!!!! And it gets worse when the forest service starts back firing 2 MILES away from the blaze. So MOST of what has been burned (and escaped many times) is from their back firing and NOT knowing the terrain and weather conditions for this area, some of the fire fighters here are from states where the hill I live on looks like Mt. Everest!

Well anyway, I've started making my FIRST quilt ever, and I think it turned out quite well, I still need to get the backing cut for it but I have the top DONE!!

We also went to the coast a few weekends ago and I got some pictures with my sisters jumping the waves and looking out of a cave.

Also there was a herd of elk that we stopped to take pictures of, I didn't really realize how BIG they were, they are HUGE! I also couldn't resist taking a picture of the sign they were standing around.

Well, we have a better name for my cat, Nervous Nelly, but we just call her Nelly. She is getting bolder now, she gets up on my parents bed and sleeps with them, she doesn't run every time the other cat chases her and she lets you pet her if you are laying flat on the floor.

Now about the hair, i have done something that i have never done before, curled my hair...my mom helped me with it since it is soo long and i've never used the curlers before...i like it but i think i need to use more curlers and put less hair in them.

New Junk

Well, I've recently received a new cat, she is about 3-5 years old, bobtailed and terrified, she had been living alone for 3 months because her owner died and no one took her in, then I hear that they are thinking of putting her down so I adopted her. She is soo cute, but she hasn't left the cat carrier, not even to get food so I put the food in there, and now I am going to move her cat box closer. Poor Baby, no one knew her name so I named her Baby.
In other new things, I borrowed 1080 Avalanche from my friend and my sisters went crazy on it! Not that I mind because that means that they will catch up to my level soon, even though dearest Sibling has beaten me in the tricks department.
Sibling is my sister closest in age to me and Midget is my youngest sister, though I don't have a nickname for Kristie.

We've gotten so much snow recently, the total is 17 inches but I have the measurements from one snowfall. Then it snowed again. I think another front is coming in tonight or tomorrow. (hope NOT, I've already shoveled out the driveway twice...and a half).

Rabbit Surgery

UGGGG!!!! Our rabbit had been growing this THING on the side of his face for a few weeks now, it was about the size of a golf ball and a half. His eye got swollen closed and we were afraid that we would have to put him down. But he scratched at it today, popped a hole in the THING and it started to ooze and gush and be ABSOLUTELY disgusting! It seemed to take for ever to drain out, even with us helping it along. My sister was hiding in the room and my mom hid herself in the kitchen, so it was only me and my dad to help him. I almost puked. Even now, hours later, the mere thought of it makes me gag. I am chewing gum right now so that is helping settle my stomach. At least the rabbit seems happier and more lively.

A New Year and More Sleep

Oh wow, it is a new year already and I am now a year older...scary. Not only that, but it means a new semester of college! This semester I am able to take all my classes from my home town, instead of waking up at 5:30 in the morning to catch a bus to drive an hour and a half to the college, then stay there until 4 and have a long drive back home...Now I can wake up at 9 (not that I do with my sisters getting ready for school at 7, but still almost 2 hours more sleep)spend 45 min getting ready and take my class...the only one that I have at 10 is on Friday, and I have another one at 2.
All my other classes start later then that, one at 11 one at 3 and one at 6, and I have Monday and the weekend to work, and do homework, LOTS of homework. But at least this time I enjoy both my English classes that I am taking. Gothic Literature and Creative Writing.

I want to share the first exercise that we did in Creative Writing, since it was the only one that was greeted with a silence at the end. The activity was to choose an Abstract word from a list we created and a Concrete word. The concrete word was passed onto the person to our right, then we had to make a sentence with it. I ended up with My DARKNESS is a MOUNTAIN. The capitalized words are the words that were chosen. Other people got ones like, my rage is sand, my vengeance is mars, or my rage is a shovel. Then we had to write for a few minutes on how it was a mountain, or sand, or what ever we got. Here is mine.

My darkness is a mountain. It weighs me down but is not as heavy as some. Sharp and jagged in places, then slippery and smooth in others, split by valleys of emotion or thought. Then peaked by attitude and actions.
Falling apart and crumbling, settling and hardening. But still not as heavy as some. Bumpy and confusing, I get lost in it often, until I stumble into a part I've already been and begin again. Neighbored by others and yet standing alone.
Eruptions make it grow, the soothing winds and crystal rain break it down. But still I am lost, until I find my path again. My darkness is a mountain, life itself. I forge new paths that take me to new ends. Some final at a cliff, or open in a valley. I get stuck, have to retrace my path, going back is new too. I see things from another angle. Only me to contend with myself, no clear path to take.
Secrets riddle the mountain, mine to keep and discover. Confusing at best but exciting as well. I get lost easily, the longer I go the further I get, until I find a way to get back on track where it is familiar.

All the other writings got some murmurs and "that's good"s but there was a bit of a silence after mine and it made me a embarrassed. But as I read it over I really like it. And that is what counts.

My rabbit and my nephew both chew on the Game cube cords, the rabbit chewed them in half, and my nephew stripped the rubber covering from the cord!!!! What a strange family I have.

My sister has come over for the week, and she has brought her Wii with her. I am now suffering from Wiinjuries, my arm is killing me and I can't lift anything, oh the things I go through for entertainment. *sighs*
But I am having fun on it, and with her and her two sons, they are so cute. And my laptop has died on me, had a very depressing day, everything seemed to go wrong. But then I talked to my friend and I felt all better. ^_^
